The first quarter of 2019 has been extremely hectic, but full of blessings. From crossing off top goals to implementing more self-care practices, I’m giving you a life update for what’s been going.
Life Update
I’ve been so busy that blogging is, of course, placed on the backburner. While I’ve missed it, I really haven’t missed blogging enough to actually formulate a whole post – only fragmented drafts waiting for completion. Since I write blog posts and manage social for clients at my full-time job, my personal blog priorities are a second priority due to mismanaged time and low energy.
But I remain committed to this blog and bringing you great content along the way, and I always will.
So, if you’ve been wondering, here’s…
What I’ve Been Doing
- I completed one of my top 2018/2019 goals. I’m extremely grateful – I moved into my first, real apartment since college. The adjustment has been pretty easy. I’m super excited to have my own intimate space again and the fact I’m living with my best friend.
- I also implemented semi-regular self-care sessions, like facials and massages. These sessions have done wonders for my skin and self-esteem. You can read more about my facial experience here.
- Working! Like I mentioned earlier, I manage blogs and social media for mid to large-sized companies at a digital marketing agency in Royal Oak. I’m constantly consumed in making sure everything is correct for them.
What I’ve Been Learning
- A lot about myself, like strengthening my independence and adjusting my body to this new routine.
- To take everything one day at a time and make small strides as I go.
- Controlling emotions, so they don’t control me.
- Packing lunches really do save on my pockets and increase my energy and productivity. I honestly should’ve been doing this a long time ago. I’ve never been huge on eating lunch while at work or school for some odd reason. It’s just different when you get into your own space, and I’ve been loving it so far.
What I’m Loving
- MUSIC: Lucky Daye’s I and II albums, Solange’s Sound of Rain, SiR’s That’s Alright, KAYTRANADA’s Glowed Up with Anderson .Paak, and a lottt of old school R&B.
- SKIN: My results so far from having done three facials so far and this new product regimen I’m using.
- LIFE: I’m in the midst of planning trips, learning how to live in the moment and become vulnerable without being emotional. And I had a great moment of just that tonight. So much growth.
What I Plan On Reading
Since moving, my reading schedule has been off. I read The Mothers book last month since I’m in a book club, Black Girls Read Too. I haven’t quite picked up this month’s read, but I have a ton of other books to either start on or finish, including:
- Priscilla Shirer’s Fervent: A Woman’s Battle Plan to Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer
- Pierre Alex Jeanty’s HER
- Malanda Jean-Claude’s Because of a Woman
