August 15: The Best Day Everrr
For the first time in what seems like forever, I have absolutely no plans for my birthday today, ZERO. No extensive planning. No asking friends and family for plan ideas. No sending out announcements and invitations. No having to prep and prepare. Nada! And honestly, it feels great!
2020 changed that, but it’s been a blessing in a disguise.
Originally, I was finally planning a trip to my top travel destination, Aruba. I was excited because I had previous plans to go years ago, but it always changed. I just wanted to lay on a beach, sightsee the island, and enjoy the resort.
After looking up multiple resorts, narrowing down my attendee list, and finding a travel agent, I didn’t end up committing to actually planning the vacation, and I’m so glad about it! Due to the pandemic, I would’ve canceled it. I wouldn’t have felt comfortable traveling anywhere, especially if it’s not in the state of Michigan. And right now that’s still skeptical. Even this past week brought on more anxiety – an emotional and mental rollercoaster.
I’m happy with my decision to not make any major plans. But I do plan on celebrating today because it’s still an important day. I’m going to grab my favorite things, including flowers and ice cream, and relax, watching movies. Also, August 15 is National Relaxation Day, which I never knew, so it falls in line with my plans. You never know how things will plan out until you let them happen.
Twenty-Seven Years
So, happy birthday to me! And here’s to 27 – the year of continuing to pivot, learning when + how to rest, and implementing intentionalism. I’m excited about what’s to come. Whirlwind and all, I’m confident in the journey and lessons ahead will continue to drive me down the right path.
