3LiveCrew in Dallas
Bre(anna), Trenae, and I, or known as our group iMessage name, 3LiveCrew, visited Dallas, Texas this past week. And we had a BLAST! This was our first time traveling together since becoming best friends in 2014 and outside of trips to our alma mater. So I was excited when a Dallas based natural hair company, Bella Kinks, announced their third annual natural hair expo.
Trip Details
Our trip was 6 nights and 6 days. We rented an Airbnb, which I was a bit skeptical about, but it ended up being perfect. We were 30-40 minutes outside of Dallas, so traveling into the city wasn’t bad unless we ran into traffic.
I am a PLANNER. It’s almost ridiculous of how many lists I make – and my friends weren’t having it. I basically planned the travel logistics, but both of them wanted our supporting activities to be free-spirited and spontaneous. While I cringed initially on the inside, I became okay with it and most of it worked. We visited Downtown Dallas, Uptown Dallas, and two malls, which I was finally able to get my Fenty Beauty (review coming soon!) We ate at cute restaurants with interesting names, like Happiest Hour, and this BOMB News Orleans inspired restaurant. The employees were so nice and received gifts.
Bella Kinks Expo
The Bella Kinks’ expo was the main event. It was amazing seeing naturals in all sizes, colors, and from different parts of the country. We got there right when the doors opened and were greeted by the founder, Julian R. A
Other brands in attendance were Curls, The Lip Bar, Urban Hydration, TGIN, Yara Imani, LA Naturals, Eden BodyWorks, and so many more.
I tried to buy as many products and from as many brands as I could, but we were worried about our luggage being overweight and nobody was paying that fee. So we bought what we could. My product collection dwindled down a lot before this trip, so I’m glad I was able to build it back up. I bought a total of four brands and 11 products. I will do reviews as I use them and style my hair, so stay tuned!
We ended the weekend with a visit to the Dallas Museum of Art and the State Fair of Texas, which is the biggest fair I’ve ever been to. Everything is truly bigger and better in Texas, and it shows during their 4-week fair.
Friends…
We already talked on the blog about friends, but find some friends who are willing to travel, correct you when you’re wrong, be open to crazy adventures, and support you wholeheartedly through anything. So if you haven’t been to Dallas, yet alone Texas, it is definitely worth the trip! Make it a girls trip, a baecation, or even solo. You can’t go wrong with their amazing food, interesting sights, and beautiful scenery.
This month’s adventures have only just begun. I get to end my busy month with celebrating my alma mater’s homecoming and JANET JACKSON: State of the World tour this weekend. I have been ready for all these trips since planning them in April.
Been to the Lone Star State?
Let me know if you have been to Texas or have had a similar trip!
