Along with having a consistent hair routine, incorporating a consistent skin care routine is equally, if not more, essential and important. This routine improves the quality of your skin, increases moisture, reduces flare ups, etc., and begins leading to flawless skin.
Facial Oils
In creating my routine, facial oils have improved the quality of my skin dramatically. I started using the Sunflower Sweet Serum by Bahi Cosmetics in December and the difference has been amazing. I recently finished the bottle, and I’m on to trying Pearlessence – found at Marshall’s. My skin has always flared up with bumps leaving dark marks behind.
Sometimes, I hated leaving out the house because I didn’t like the way my skin looked. Even as an adult and having fully outgrown adolescent stages, I still got bumps from food and drink triggers, natural elements, and maybe a little from stress too. My normal, sensitive, and sometimes dry skin – depending on the weather – got its act together when I changed habits and created a conscientious regimen.
I’m sharing tips to start a skin care routine and why facials oils should slide into the routine for the summer and beyond
Eliminate Triggers
After every breakout, I would think about “what triggered this?” They would appear about two to three days after I ate or drank three things: chocolate, pop, and anything with caffeine. Now, I used to LOVE all three, especially a Hershey’s Cookies N Creme bar, McDonald’s Carmel Frappe, or Fanta Orange pop. But as much as I consumed these items, the more I noticed they were my problems areas. I was able to let them all go, sadly, but for the better, and my skin has been flourishing, in having fewer breakouts, ever since.
Recommendation: Pay attention to flare-ups when they happen, so triggers can be narrowed down.
Find Products for Your Skin Type
I am a product junkie, if my blog and social media haven’t already shared that, but not every brand and product is good for our skin. I’m still learning which brands and products do and don’t work, due to their ingredients. Also less is more, so I only use face wash, toner, facial oil, and moisturizer. This is all my skin needs and is working well with it. I highly suggest facials oils because:
- They moisturize, add softness, smoothness, packed with essential nutrients, fatty acids and antioxidants, and a protective layer for skin cells before applying moisturizer.
- It doesn’t, at least for me, leave my skin greasy or super oily.
- They aid in helping to even out skin complexion.
Recommendation: The best facial wash I’ve ever used is a drugstore brand and super inexpensive: Biore’s Deep Pore
Be Patient + Know Everything Gets Better with Time !
It’s not going to happen overnight, but I promise consistency and patience will make sure it does. Pack your patience to see real, concrete results.
Recommendation: Keep a journal or listing of the routine’s progress to see there is consistent progress.
