The beauty market expands more and more each day. With over 100+ brands to choose from, it can sometimes be overwhelming to choose what will work, especially with beauty tools like makeup brushes and sponges. A brush, sponge, or other types of applicators are needed for different products, such foundation, concealer, highlighter, eyeshadow, and more
Makeup
I want to share my top tools for how I apply my foundation, concealer, powder, and eyeshadow – pretty much the only products I wear needing tools (contouring isn’t for me YET, but baby steps.)
This is not a sponsored post; I purchased all of the tools, from stores like Ulta, Sephora, Target, and Marshalls, and love how they work for me. All photos of the tools are at the end of this post.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
I’ve been using this sponge since the beginning of my makeup days. It will forever be a staple in my collection due to its price, quality, and durability. I can always count on this sponge to make sure my foundation and concealer are flawlessly blended in. Using the flat side to tap foundation and concealer into my skin is best. I use the rounded sides to make sure everything is seamless and there are no lines.
Silicone Blender
Recently, there has been a lot of hype over a new type of make-up applicator tool – a silicone blender. After purchasing and using one, I have to admit it is worth the hype. The silicone material doesn’t waste any product unlike a regular sponge where you can literally see all the product. Every ounce placed on face or blender is used. With the cost of beauty brands’ products now, I don’t want to see any product wasted, which is a relief with this blender.
To apply, you place the foundation or concealer on your face and move in circular motion to blend in. Then, use a regular beauty sponge to fully buff in the product.
While having to use two sponges might be a hassle, I enjoy how much of the product is actually going onto my face. I completely see a difference in how it works compared to regular beauty sponges/tools.
beautyblender
While I had to send my BeautyBlender off to Sponge Heaven, I think this is another great tool to apply and blend foundation and concealer. But I mostly used this sponge for applying setting powder. The point of the sponge allowed to place powder in the areas I needed without a problem. This product is pricey but is worth it if you like spending extra coins.
e.l.f. Eyeshadow brush
The first set of brushes I ever bought was E.L.F., and none of them have failed me yet. They are of amazing quality and great if you are on a tight budget. For about $2 at Target, you can own this eyeshadow brush to handle blending your creases to perfection. They literally have a brush or two for every need.
e.l.f. Kabuki brush
I use this brush to wipe off the excessive setting powder after baking. I like this technique because it helps to set my makeup for a long period of time. With the kabuki brush, I don’t have to worry about having excessive powder. It gets it all without a problem.
