Push Throu
Over the past two months, I’ve felt so many emotions, such as defeat and hurt. So I ran here to vent. This mini mid-life crisis, which happened over the holidays, was a not joyous occasion. I cried countless times, screamed, wanted to give up and completely shut myself out from the world. I wanted to comprehend and solve the situation immediately; it only made matters worse. Soon I realized enough is enough after continuous prayer and consistent encouragement from family and friends.
I learned to be okay with it, but ultimately realizing I’m going through something – a fire (a metaphor for test, storm, struggle.) The fire throws negative problems/issues back-to-back without warning to deter your plans. It drains the individuals from all aspects of life while making them want to give up. The fire, also, tries teaching lesson(s) missed from past experiences.
But this post isn’t about giving up; it’s about pushing through to get through. It’s also about using those flames to dig deep to find your true self and make room for new – new experiences and opportunities. In order to do that, I started making self-changes. I found three ways to push through and get my life together.
Embracing It
This step has to come first. It was hard to believe what happened. Denial set in, and I used every excuse for myself and the situation for it to eventually go back to how it was. But of course, that never happened. Instead of worrying and trying to figure out why, I embraced it and found how I couldn’t improve my everyday life – physically, mentally, professionally, and spiritually. Know that there is a lesson that can be learned from this. You have to know when the lesson comes to you and how to apply it. Prayer, journaling and crying it out literally helped me through it all.
Forgiveness
Forgiveness is MAJOR when it comes to getting over a situation. Resentment, grudges, or half doing it are not included – completely let it go. While I am still in this process, I’m further along than where I started (baby steps.) Find the closure within yourself and/or the situation. There shouldn’t be anymore wishing and wondering, just absolute peace!
Have FUN
Every time I revisit my alma mater, it’s a celebration! We celebrated one of my best friend’s birthday a few weeks ago, and it was exactly what I needed to regain everything I lost through the fire. I laughed so hard, cried, tried unexpected things, mended old friendships, and was most importantly surrounded by love. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Find your circle, plan something, then get out and have fun!
Somehow I found restoration, peace, and joy, and I thank God for it. No matter the situation, problem, or trial, push through the problem and become your best self, or an even greater version of yourself. Storms and fires are bound to happen, but you can’t (shouldn’t) look like what you’ve been through. Come out unapologetically unbothered and keep reaching for your dreams. Never let your emotions solely dictate your actions – it takes away your power, energy, and Queen status.
Ready for Change?
I’m ready for a change in all aspects of life – my environment, employment, lifestyle, and hair. Realizing this power, I am ready to conquer it all. Yes, it’s a little scary but is necessary – VERY necessary. With prayer and guidance, I will come out victorious.
“Let it shape you, but never change you!”
