Are you excited about the direction of your life? But you also have miniature moments of sadness and intense pressure? My last few weeks comprised of this! I could be in a moment of gratefulness, then abruptly switch into negative thoughts + feelings that attempt to intervene back in my life. I kept my mind and heart in check by writing a blog excerpt for my friend’s blog about romance after heartbreak. Also, social media quotes + posts have their way of helping + being exactly what I need to get through.
Heart Check
On Saturday, I scrolled past a quote that spoke directly to what my life has been for years. I immediately wanted + needed to write a post about it while encouraging you as well. The post said:
2016 changed me
2017 broke me
2018 opened my eyes
2019, I’m coming back!
I almost went running and screaming in my room! 2016-2018 held some of my greatest and roughest, complicated moments. Though there were constant blows, I never realized how much hurt took place so close together. Additionally, I never realized how much I still secretly held onto without learning how to cope.
After reading that post, I knew it was time to honestly let go and heal. The best advice I’m giving myself, and to you, within this season is to OWN IT. Whatever that it is, own it, including your current + past situations, flaws, strengths, weaknesses, and your life’s journey. OWN IT all! Don’t dwell in the negativity, which sometimes is very easy because they can definitely overpower every positive thought/moment you have. Accept the past and let it empower you to become a better woman, friend, lover, and everything else in between.
I might always preach this, but I’m truly preaching this #MoxieMondayMotivation post to myself today. Ever since my 25th birthday, a fire has been increasing in my belly. My attitude and an optimistic outlook are increasing drastically. I’ve completely owned every situation, within my life and stopped playing “victim game.”
Why did it take me so long to own it?! Who knows. Time heals all, and situations take time to process every single detail. After learning one of my core weaknesses, all the heartache and struggles began to make sense. Women, generally, hold onto a lot of situations that no longer serve them. That was/is me, which I’m working hard to change.
Start Owning It
Owning it alone will not make the process any easier, but jumpstarts the healing process. Find tangible and practical exercises, such as:
- Yoga
- Other fitness + wellness programs
- Counseling
- Self-care activities
- And more!
Now I’m ready to do everything possible to completely make myself whole and healing for myself. I affirm the post’s last statement to be true. I am coming back with grace, power, and moxie!
