This past weekend, I celebrated Bre’s 25th birthday.
Her family + friends have been planning it for months. Since I knew about all of the festivities, I wanted to make sure my skin looked and felt right. That hasn’t been the case lately, so I decided to lay off the makeup from Christmas to that weekend. To help my skin more, I started using an oil serum to get my dark marks and pores in order. Leading up to the weekend, I could tell the difference the product has been making – I’ll do a review on it soon.
Makeup + More Makeup
When I tell y’all I was ready to put on makeup, I was too hype. I missed the process of applying it and having it on. My goal is always a natural look; I use the same process every time, products may change though. I’m not into contouring, eyelashes (I don’t mind them every once in awhile), or highlighting (even though I wish I knew how to place it better on my face.)
These looks below are very similar but the methods and lip colors changed. For Friday’s dinner, I stayed casual and added a neutral lip with Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb. For Saturday night, the makeup application stayed the same but I spiced it up with switching the concealer and adding a bold lippie.
Products Used
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water
This product can be used as a dual product: a primer and setting spray. I apply my oil serum, moisturizer, and primer in timely increments to allow them to dry.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation – Shade: Y445 Amber
I am in love with the foundation – one of the best ones I have ever purchased. It is lightweight and medium coverage, but acts like full coverage. I use about three pumps and it covers my face perfectly.
Tarte Shape Tape concealer – Shade: Deep
Shape Tape is a great concealer for non-heavy makeup wearers. I love the consistency and coverage it gives. I used it on Friday night to conceal under my eyes for extra coverage and brightness. I choose one shade lighter than my foundation. I don’t like my concealer too bright because I don’t contour or use bronzer.
Fenty Beauty Pro’Filter Soft Matte Longwear Foundation – Shade: 350 Neutral (Used as a concealer on Saturday)
I really want to love this product as a foundation, but I’m still skeptical on how to use it because it starts off as medium coverage. Even though I have been using a medium coverage foundation (MAKE UP FOR EVER), it doesn’t take me long to build coverage unlike the Pro’ Filter has.
I did love this product though as a concealer, which I used for Saturday. Until I find a way to build it without looking cakey/ashy, I’ll continue to use it as a concealer. I’ve watched so many YouTube tutorials, but apparently need
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this setting poweder. It doesn’t flake, crease, and leaves your makeup crisp + feeling amazing. It truly does keep your makeup in place. Once I emptied this one, I wouldn’t mind trying the Deep shade powder.
L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara
I recently bought this mascara, and I love it so far. It is easy to apply, true to its color, and last for a very long time. My lashes pop and extend to look full.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz – Caramel
This was the first brow product I’ve ever purchase, and I have not been disappointed yet. It fills in my brows well and makes them look very natural. I only used this product on Friday – I left it on Saturday 🙁
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer
One of the best lip glosses ever. This light-pigmented gloss has a hint of shimmer and non-sticky feel. I wear it almost everyday.
The Lip Bar Prima Donna Liquid Matte
If y’all don’t know about The Lip Bar, you have been living under a rock or not into makeup. But this brand is a bomb local Detroit business who specializes in vegan lip products with bold colors. I have always a pleasant experience and their products are impeccable. I wore the shade, Prima Donna, to add a pop of color to my outfit. Support them!
I mostly used sponges to do this look, and you can read here to see what exactly I use.

I live for the Smashbox primer water and the Fenty Gloss Bomb. Not a week goes by that I don’t use one or both of them at least 2x. Great post.

I love that color from The Lip Bar! I have been wanting to try them out but can never pick a color. Your makeup looks went great with your outfit choices!

Thank you!! You definitely should – start with a color you’ll use the more. That one for me is Bawse Lady, which is their popular red shade.

I always wanted to try the Tarte Shape Tape concealer. I’ve only heard good things. I’ll have to get a sample soon. Right now I’ve been loving the Loreal Pro Glow Concealer. I actually use it all over my face like a foundation when I’m going to work and on the weekends if I’m just chillin I’ll use it to spot conceal.
I’ve seen people use the Tarte concealer as a foundation too. You should try it! Thanks for this list of products!

The Tarte concealer is so good, but price wise is higher than L’Oreal, so I understand if you don’t lol. And I haven’t tried that one yet – I will have to go check L’Oreal out. I know Tarte just release the Shape Tape foundations as well.
