Fall Hair Color
I follow a lot of hair pages, hashtags, and influencers on Instagram. I’m always intrigued by their hair techniques, styles, colors, and products, which became my inspiration to color my hair again. And I’m so happy I did!
I’ve colored my hair before but never dyed my full head this light. I’ve had burgundy twice, partially went blonde, jet black, and then let my natural hair color, dark brown, come back. My natural color has always been pretty, but you could only see its true color when the sun hit it. I wanted to see it without the sun, so I started searching for the perfect color.
Because I was highly impressed with the way Jackie did my hair in April, I went back and let her do my color. She is the bomb at color, so I knew she wouldn’t disappoint. The process took a little over 2.5 hours. With two applications, the color came out absolutely perfect with nothing else, like a copper tone, to add.
I thought since I was getting my hair done in late September that I wouldn’t have to worry about humidity. I was wrong! It was a warm day reaching almost up to or at 80 degrees. It also was a busy day – it was J. Cole’s concert that evening. I love him so much, but I underestimated how much moving and jumping I would do. As you can see in the video below (I’m so glad Trenae was able to capture my moment), I thoroughly enjoyed my time, how my hair ended up, and how much it’s grown since April.
Updated Care Routine
To maintain my color before going for a touch-up, I use sulfate-free shampoos which aren’t new for me. Jackie recommended Design Essentials, so I bought their Almond & Avocado Moisturizing & Detangling Sulfate-Free Shampoo from Ulta. With one wash down, the Design Essentials shampoo is definitely a keeper. Still on my list to try are
I follow shampooing with deep conditioning and styling. My go-to styles are two-strand twists or a wash n’ go, but I did a two-strand this time. Moisturizing is key when it comes to color, so I’m making sure I do enough before styling to make it last longer. Mielle Organic’s Avocado Hair Milk is perfect for moisturizing!
